R10 section of the NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 soon to decongest Metro Manila

Date Posted : August 15, 2017

DPWH Secretary Mark Villar and MPTC President Rodrigo Franco lead the laying of the time capsule during the groundbreaking ceremony of the R10 Section of the NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10. Also with them are Malabon City Mayor Antolin Oreta III, Caloocan City Planning Head Aurora Ciego, Navotas City Mayor John Reynald Tiangco, DPWH Undersecretary for Regional Operations in Vis-Min Rafael Yabut, DPWH Undersecretary for Unified Project Management Office Operations Emil Sadain and DPWH Undersecretary for Luzon Operation Dimas Soguilon

The NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10’s Radial Road 10 section, which is featured in the Duterte administration’s “Build Build Build” infrastructure plan, will soon decongest EDSA and other major roads in Metro Manila.

This was stated by Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar during the groundbreaking rites of the 2.6-kilometer R-10 section of the NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10.

The R-10 section is the continuation of the 5.7-kilometer Segment 10, an elevated expressway passing through MacArthur Highway in Valenzuela City, Governor Pascual Avenue in Malabon City and C3 Road/5th Avenue in Caloocan City.

It is designed to provide direct access between the port area and the northern provinces of Luzon via NLEX. It will decongest Metro Manila by offering an alternative entry to NLEX, bypassing EDSA and other busy streets of Manila.

With the project completion set in December 2018, motorists only need approximately 10 minutes going from the port to NLEX.  Cargo trucks will also have 24/7 access from the ports to their respective destinations in the north and south since NLEX is not covered by truck ban.
