MNTC tests weigh-in-motion (WIM) for anti-overloading drive

July 28, 2009

Manila North Tollways Corporation (MNTC) president Rodrigo Franco confers with Richard Stokes (seated), managing director of Central Weighing Limited, WIM supplier as they both tested how the device works. WIM is a new device used by MNTC in its anti-overloading campaign to promote road safety at the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX). As its name suggests, trucks need not stop for weighing as WIM measures their axle weights while approaching the entry lanes of Balintawak, Bocaue and San Fernando interchanges. Central Weighing Limited is a London-based company that specializes in axle weighing for more than three decades. WIM has been tested worldwide and now in place in European countries, India, Dubai, Bangkok, Thailand and Malaysia. NLEX is the first to use WIM attesting to its leadership in technological innovations.
