NLEX-SCTEX as ’seamless expressway’
June 3, 2008
The Manila North Tollways Corporation (MNTC), builder and concessionaire of the 84-kilometer North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), joined the torch relay which highlighted last week's pre-inaugural event dubbed "94 K Weekend" for the 93.7-kilometer Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) which started commercial operation on April 28. MNTC chose the slogan "A Tale of Two Tollways: NLEX-SCTEX, seamless," to emphasize uninterrupted travel by motorists from NLEX to SCTEX, and vice versa. MNTC vice president for operations and maintenance assurance services Raul L. Ignacio passes on the torch to Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) Team composed of (from right) project manager Manuel Almeda, SCTEX program manager for administration (MGen) Trifonio Salazar (ret) and SCTEX environmental officer Jerry Mendoza. The interconnection between the SCTEX and NLEX will offer motorists and travelers seamless travel between Metro Manila, Subic in Olongapo City and La Paz town in Tarlac. For example, as you exit NLEX, you take the spur road that leads to SCTEX's Clark Logistic Interchange. Get the "smart card" and you are on your way to traverse that 94 km SCTEX, after traveling the 84 km NLEX.
