MNTC plants trees at the NLEX

Officials and employees of the Manila North Tollways Corporation (MNTC) recently planted 600 saplings at the Mexico Interchange of the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX). The event is part of MNTC’s aggressive tree-planting program called Greening the NLEX where 20,000 trees are programmed for planting in all interchanges and available spaces at the NLEX by end-2008. It aims to help improve air quality and in line with the corporation’s commitment to promote sustainable development. MNTC, builder and concessionaire of the NLEX, earlier planted over 800 young trees at the Sta. Rita Interchange, 500 at the Pulilan Interchanges, both in Bulacan, and some 3,000 at the Candaba Swamp in Pampanga. It also participated in the Green Philippine Highways program of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and Save Mt. Arayat Movement of City of San Fernando, Pampanga. Volunteers from the local government of Mexico, Pampanga headed by Mayor Teddy Tumang, joined MNTC in the recent tree-planting activity.
