How is the anti-overloading law enforced along the NLEX?
The Department of Land Transportation and Communication (DOTC) and Land Transportation Office (DOTC-LTO) or its deputized agency are tasked to implement RA 8794. Weigh bridges and portable weigh scales are used by the DPWH and its authorized representatives - which includes the Tollways Management Corporation (TMC) for the NLEX - to measure the weight of a vehicle.
STEP 1: Vehicles are inspected and then positioned on top of a weigh-bridge or the weigh pads of a portable weighing scales.
STEP 2: The inspector may either use a manual or automated system in recording the actual weight of the truck or axle. The manual system requires the Inspector to read the weight from the machine and record the same on the sheet of paper. The automated system records the actual weight digitally and the result is captured on a computer print out. The original copy is given to the driver of the vehicle being weighed and a duplicate copy is given to the inspector.
