Does having a transponder mean I can use any of the toll lanes?

The NLEX has devoted the inmost lanes at our toll plazas for the exclusive use of EC Tag subscribers. There are three kinds of toll lanes at the NLEX:

• Manual lanes accept only cash payments. At the larger toll plazas (Balintawak and Bocaue) the manual toll lanes will always be on the right side of the barrier as you approach.
• Mixed use lanes accommodate cash and electronic payments using the NLE Badge.
• Dedicated toll lanes are exclusively for Class 1 vehicles with EC Tag transponders. These are at the extreme left of the toll barrier as you approach.

An EC tag transaction at any NLEX entry point is virtually instantaneous. A vehicle approaching the lane at the maximum speed of 20 km/hour simply has to slow down briefly. The lane traffic light turns from red to green, and the traffic control gate opens within a matter of seconds.
