Let there be trees. Officials and staff of the Manila North Tollways Corp. (MNTC), franchisee of the North Luzon Expressway,  and its operating arm, the Tollways Management Corp., went out of their way last April 24 to plant over 3,000 mahogany saplings at a 70-hectare reserve of the great Candaba Swamp in Pampanga in line with government efforts to restore environmental balance and provide a permanent sanctuary for some 16,000 domestic and foreign birds that flock to the sprawling wetland during the cold season.
